

Sun He
Conductor in Residence
Sun He is currently the wind ensemble conductor at The Tianjin Juilliard School’s Pre-College, the executive director of the New Zealand International Brass Festival, and the Artistic Director of the International Wind Ensemble Academy and Festival.

As a conductor, Sun collaborated with the Temple University Symphony Orchestra, Temple University ConTemplum Orchestra, the New Zealand International Brass Festival Faculty Ensemble, the Chicago College of Performing Arts Brass Ensemble, the Tianjin Juilliard School Pre-college Wind Ensemble, and Tianjin Juilliard Ensemble. He was assistant conductor at Temple University Composer’s Orchestra from 2013 to 2014 and later became the associate director of this orchestra from 2014 to 2016.

Sun He has presented lectures at the University of British Columbia, the University of Toronto, The Tianjin Juilliard School, Oklahoma City University, the University of North Georgia, the International Euphonium and Tuba Festival (I.E.T.), the T-Bone School Japan, and the Singapore International Brass Festival.

Born in China, Sun was an engineering major at the Beijing University of Science and Technology. In 2009, he started his music studies at Oklahoma City University. Later, he earned his B.M. from Roosevelt University Chicago College of Performing Arts and an M.M. from Temple University in Philadelphia. He studied trombone performance with Jay Friedman, Charlie Vernon, Reed Capshaw, Blair Bollinger, Matthew Vaughn, and Nitzan Haroz. His conducting teachers include Maestro Luis Biava, Stephen Squires, David Hayes, and Andreas Delfs.
